Meet our Chef.

Chef Savage is a classically trained chef with a degree from the Johnson Wales School of Culinary Arts in Norfolk, Virginia.  Chris grew up in Virginia and has traveled throughout the country and the globe, including Korea and Japan, where he was always looking for unique cuisine.

Chef Savage’s resume consists of many notable establishments here in Virginia, including A Sharper Palate Catering where his boss Tuffy Stone is now a judge on TV’s “PitMasters”, the Williamsburg Inn, the Army Navy Country Club, Bistro Sancerre and The Tobacco Company.

In Chicago Chef Savage worked at Momotaro (voted Chicago’s best new restaurant,), the Urban Belly, and GT Fish and Oyster, a perennial recipient of the MICHELIN Bib Gourmand Award.

Culinary Excellence

Throughout his 25 years in the business, he has been privileged to serve a host of dignitaries, including Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Conner, President Barack Obama, President Bill Clinton, Senator Tim Kaine, Governor George Allen, First Lady Laura Bush, Michael Jordan, Anthony Bourdain, Jackie Chan, Pat Sajak and Vanna White, Andrew Zimmern, Ming Tsai, and many more.

He credits his work ethic and his love of cultural food and traditions to the summers he spent on his grandparents’ ranch out west. It is there that he learned how to raise chickens, raise cows, tend horses and work the land. He also learned about indigenous people and their favorite foods when he worked on a Native American reservation. This is where he learned to love simple and delicious cuisine.

Chef Savage grew up in Reston and attended South Lakes High School, where he was an “all around” gymnast when South Lakes won the Virginia State Championship. He is the father of three sons, who like their dad, were raised here in Virginia.  Chef Savage and the entire restaurant team look forward to welcoming you to Coyote Grille and doing us the honor of serving you.

Hear from our Customers

I want to give a shout out and show some love to Coyote Grille Cantina in Fairfax City. For those that have been there in the past – they’ve made some changes and are no longer Tex-Mex, but instead are serving more upscale Latin American cuisine, but at very reasonable prices.

Their cocktails are fantastic- my partner said his was the best he’s had in years, and he’s a serious cocktail connoisseur! All the food was delicious too and the staff couldn’t have been nicer! They were kinda empty last night when we went though. I hope you’ll check them out.
